‘(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me’ is the new single by Sean Paul featuring Keyshia Cole released through Atlantic Records/VP Recordings on October 30th. This track comes as Sean Paul won Best Reggae Award for his UK gold certified smash hit album The Trinity at the prestigious Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, which took place last week.
‘(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me’ features on THE TRINITY album alongside such hot collaborations as ‘Cry Baby Cry’ (Carlos Santana and Joss Stone) and ‘Break It Off’ (Rhianna). It is the follow up album to the groundbreaking; 6 million copy selling DDuty Rock, which is currently nearing triple platinum status in the UK. On it’s release last year, THE TRINITY stormed into the UK album charts at number 11 and has since notched up UK sales of more than 200,000 copies to date.
Sean Paul spent three years completing this third album and even though many of the world’s biggest names in Hip-Hop begged to work with the king of dancehall, he proudly says, ‘it was all done right here in the third world’ and thus the album boasts an all-star Caribbean cast of guests and producers and features the finest dancehall and reggae rhythms around. Hence the album title, TThe Trinity - a spiritual concept that signifies a unity of three in one.
Looking back from this moment in 2006, it’s easy to forget that just a few years ago, raw uncut Jamaican dancehall was still considered ‘underground’ music. However Sean Paul flipped the script to all of that with his landmark album and changed the game completely.
