Three things stick in the mind about 22 year old : outrageously elastic vocal cords, a preposterous bouffant and a peculiar musical likeness to his old chum, Amy Winehouse. This, his second single, is jam-packed with free-wheeling funk, from the Shaft styled wah-wah groove to Tyler's warbling falsetto, and although it's always enjoyable it never strays far enough from the conventions of the genre to be particularly remarkable. Let's just hope he doesn't get sucked into the coffee table black hole, because this is not a voice worth wasting.
IN an age where dullards like Lemar and the ghastly Will Young are supposedly the future of British soul then this hip young soulboy is a breath of fresh air.
Once dubbed ‘the British answer to Justin Timberlake’ this funky East End wideboy has come of age with a glorious slice of funk-pop that showcases his beautiful falsetto and distinctive voice.
James co-wrote Foolish and he’s decided to throw the kitchen sink at this track with a rippling bass and some seriously sexy choppy funk guitar that adds up to a massive hit.
is not just a pretty face and will be a big name by the end of 2005. Mark my words, he’ll pick up at least one Brit next year because Foolish is the sort of smart funky pop Jay Kay used to produce before he got lazy.
