Adelaide born singer, was set for fame last year following her well received first album ‘Healing is Difficult.' Sealing the deal, she co-wrote the song ‘Bully' with Beck and it seemed as though she was well on her way to The Big Time. Then it all went quiet. Until now...
‘Breathe Me' is the first single to be released from 's second album, ‘Colour the Small One.' The song opens with melancholic pianos, leading into a breathless, powerful vocal. At times, the sound is claustrophobic, but this may be the intention. With repeated listening, this song develops from girly, teenage-angst into something I nearly like. Lyrically the song is quite immature, reminiscent of a GCSE poetry session, but audibly it is refreshing to hear a female vocalist with an original and clear sound.
The current debate on the singers childlike website is; is comparable to Dido? Well, they are both blonde. And female. But unlike a Dido song, I can make it through a single without professional help...and when the fairies sprinkle their magical dust, I almost feel like I'm dancing with the pixies in Never Land.
