You’re gonna make me lonesome when you go sounds like an old 50’s soul record, but no – its actually a new release, and a very very pretty song, simple and beautifully done. Arranged around ’s sultry delivery, it’s the stuff of hot evenings in old French villages, of courting and longing. If it ends up on a Renault Clio advert I would be disappointed, but not surprised. That’s the problem with music that is so immediately enjoyable – its inevitably less likely to inspire the ardent fervour that music can occasionally bring, and more likely to be exploited – or worse, forgotten – for its simple charms.
