It seems that someone forget to tell Little Barrie that Rock N’ Roll is dead. Love You, the first single to be released from their second album Stand Your Ground oozes authenticity with its crackling lead guitar, bluesy bass line and infectious drumming. It hawks back to an era when rock n’ roll ruled supreme, the time of rockabilly and rhythm and blues.
The rattling sound of Love You conjures up images of smoke filled rooms and whisky drinking. The tone is raw and pleasing, easy to digest and nicely produced. Their sound is far from new, but that’s probably the point.
Without meaning to anyone off Little Barrie are the kind of group that make records you dad might try and pinch when your not looking. They someone manages to achieve broad appeal while retaining just enough cool.
The single is out on January 8th with the album following on the 29th.
