‘When I Fall In Love’ is the first album from Lesley Garrett since signing to Universal Classics & Jazz, and is both an assortment of classic love songs and a personal labour of love, with every song having a deep personal connection to Lesley. Originally from Doncaster, Lesley has forged a hugely successful career, taking her into the leading opera houses worldwide. So with all the experience this magnificent musician has to offer, what are we to expect from this album?
A lot of the songs including ‘When I Fall In Love’, ‘The Way We Were’ and ‘He Was Beautiful’ are very mellow and soothing (as expected from Lesley) and in their own form tell a story which makes the album a pleasurable listening experience overall. Whilst others see a harmonious melody, Lesley sees it as a chance and window of opportunity to pour her heart out. Although the album may not be as highly anticipated or appealing to the younger generation as such, make note that it is the ideal way and gift to winning over someone’s heart!
