The collection returns for its third installment of classic rare funk gems. The songs are all taken from Atlantic, ATCO, Reprise, Warner Bros. Records and some small obscure labels between 1966 and 1977. Despite the fact that some of the tracks date well over thirty years, the quality of the recordings on the CD are amazingly fresh.
Highlights from the 25 track album are vast and include Joyce Jones' ‘help me make up my mind' and the Commodores' ‘keep on dancing' which take you right to the core spirit of American funk. It also includes ultra rare tracks such as the James Brown related Freddie and the Kinfolks' ‘Mashed Potato Pop Corn'.
This impressive album delivers a smooth, expressive, eclectic mix of songs which are just as, if not more notable and varied as the previous 2 in the series.
