Dr John pays tribute to legendary Johnny Mercer with this fine collection of Jazz numbers. John pays homage to his hero by singing popular tracks such as ‘Moon River’ and ‘You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby’, as well as expressing a humble tribute through a brand new song ‘I aint no Johnny Mercer’. Most of the tracks are considerably upbeat and indeed jazzy; however ‘Lazy Bones’ and ‘Come Rain Or Shine’ offer a slightly bluesy substance.
Using his trademark Whisky-tinged voice; the Louisiana legend delivers some remarkable vocals throughout, taking the listener on a journey through the life of singer/songwriter Johnny Mercer.
Not only a fabulous tribute but a masterpiece in terms of sound, this is the definitive sound of New Orleans.
