"Help Yourself" is Amy's next single to be released from her debut album "Frank". Though it isn't one of her strongest, it certainly demonstrates what it is about that makes her sound unique. Her voice, as silky sweet as Jill Scott is, at the same time, as attitude-ridden as a football thug, a juxtaposition if ever there was one. Similarly, though the lyrics in "Help Yourself" are hopelessly contemporary, Amy gives them feeling and a presence and they work magically alongside muted drums and strong drumming. There's something about the verses that conjures up images of a stiletto clad Amy telling her unruly man to behave himself. And I certainly wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of in a pair of plastic flip-flops, never mind a pair of potentially lethal spike-heeled shoes. Whilst being downtempo, "Help Yourself" has a subtle feistiness, which in some respects, seems to mirror Amy's own personality; a relaxed and charming North London girl, with balls and a big voice. And it's this sense of passion and genuine belief in her music that makes her records special. The recent Ivor Novello award was simply the icing on the cake. This is another great record in the bag for one of the UK's brightest musical starlets...
