Hinder, from Oklahoma City formed in 2005 and sold about 5,000 copies of their first release. This came to the attention of the music industry monoliths at Universal, and a hefty record deal followed. Their critically-panned debut album ‘Extreme Behavior’ came out in 2005 and sold well.
‘Get Stoned’ is about the fifteenth release from the same album and again encapsulates everything that is awful about this polished, soul-less brand of dude rock. It’s lyrics are the equivalent of sticking a tin bucket over your head and running into a wall:
“Without a doubt
All the break-ups is worth the make up sex you're givin me
Lets hash it out”
It’s hard to imagine it wasn’t written by a 15 year old, but it really is credited to the band, who are grown-ups. If Nickelback are the pinnacle of rock excellence to you then you’ll like this but you won’t think it as good. For everyone else you won’t want to go near it.
