'Say, Scientist' the newest release from The Maple State, a manchester band consisting of five members, one of the best from there home city? or just another bunch of teenagers trying to be 'the next big thing'? personally, for the second suggestion all boxes are ticked for me. Lets be honest, i was bored listening through this mini-album, as i tend to be while listening over all cliche bands. Although admittedly, some credit does have to be given on 'Don't Take Holidays' in which i detected the slightest bit of originality.
For a band to be compared to those such as New Found Glory, and release an EP with such a weak outcome is extremely disapointing, shame on you High Voltage Sounds! but whoever said they couldn't use teenage naiveity as an excuse? then again, maybe they won't need an excuse when they rapidly fade into the background as just another emo 5 piece. The band does have there moments, when your expectations are lowered from the very first song of the album any glimse of good beats pass as impressive. Overall opinion? weak.
