Such was the buzz surrounding the Sheffield quintet that when they signed to tres cool
indie label, Rough Trade, the world breathed a collective sigh -or downed
several pints in their honour. And now here they are months later, playing a
sold out gig in Birmingham.
And aren’t they a glamorous
bunch? Front woman Kate Jackson strides onto the
stage and does the sultry front woman thing perfectly. And their tunes, what
tunes! Again, they offer something that
is seriously lacking in our charts –a live band playing some cool pop punk
songs. Anthemic in quality, tracks like
Giddy Stratospheres, Once And Never Again should surely prompt the biggest
karaoke session ever.
