Snow patrol are an absolutely fantastic live band! i was annoyed at first because it was rumoured that the Delays would support, but no luck - some band called shellfish deputised, and they were awful - steer clear!! But then came on and just blew EVERYONE away. They are not a favourite of mine by any stretch, but i thought beforehand that their type of music would lend itself to a good gig - it has that relentless rhythm that always makes for good atmospheric songs, and the Apollo is great for that sort of stuff too. but it was way more tight and rockier than i was expecting - proper crunching guitars and awesome synths, and they keps all the songs short, to the point so they held your attentions all the time - everyone was loving it completely. The lead singer was fantastic too, not just his voice, which was amazing - but very charismatic too, in a kind of "nice scottish guy made something that everyone loves and now he cant hide the fact he's having the time of his life" way. So it was just a brilliant atmosphere, which made the crowd go mad and it just got better and better with every song - the way all live music should be...and they got literally a full minute standing ovation, mid-set, after they played Run, which was up there with the best live songs ive ever seen. One more album as good as the last and they will deservedly make it Coldplay-big, it was a proper privelidge to be in attendance. The kind of gig which really wakes up your senses, tunes you in to the kind of bliss that is only associated with being a true music-lover, and makes you wish there were a female in the band who you could,,,err,,,,covet,,,,
fantastic!!
