Hit me with your rhythm stick - Ian Dury & The Blockheads get the digital treatment.
‘Sex, Drugs & Rock & Roll’ is the digital only best of album from the late Ian Dury and his band The Blockheads. If song titles like ‘Reasons to be Cheerful Pt 3’ and ’Sex, Drugs & Rock & Roll’ don’t mean anything to you this is a good an opportunity as any to invest in some musical history.
Dury and The Blockheads shot to fame in the late 70s on the back of the punk and new wave. Hailing from North West London he fast built a reputation for his poetical lyrical play and humorous observations of British working class life. The music was a mix of jazz, funk, reggae, musical hall and punk.
With lyrics like . . . .
You’re more than fair you’ve got a gorgeous bum.
Why don’t you come to my to house and meet my mum.
How can you resist?
