Four Germans combine to make incredibly un-German sounding music. . .
Its been two years since the boys from Berlin signed to Four Music and released their debut album 'Stolen Horse' - they have hardly had a moments rest since. Despite being busy touring with Maximo Park and hitting most of the summer festivals Gods of Blitz managed to write 'Reporting a Mirage' on the road and in between shows. Under the watchful eye of producer Torston Otto the instrumentals for the entire album were laid down in just two weeks; an amazing feat but one that doesn't affect the quality of music.
'Reporting a Mirage' is a raw, retro-tinged, bouncy blend of new-wave rock; comparisons to other bands abound but the most accurate place them somewhere between the Red Hot Chillies and Feeder. The band are at their best on songs such as 'New Wave Wipe Out' and 'Reporting A Mirage', punchy, high -octane offerings populated with funky guitar riffs but pull off slower numbers with equal zeal. The album tells of the group's history; one of hard work, determination and eventual success.
Despite each of the band being an experienced musician in their own right an extra pair of hands was brought in to over see the album. The Swedish musician and arranger Ludwig Boss oversaw the song construction process with the result being 12 tightly arranged tracks that rarely go far beyond the three-minute mark.
