This is the kind of track you listen to in the middle of a long journey; your train speeds through the dreary countryside, beneath a dull grey sky, and you sit contemplating the world. Inevitably you come to the conclusion that everything is shit. Yes it’s rather depressing.
‘Little Blue Mailbox’ is the taken from ‘Distance and Time’, the follow up to ‘Biscuits for Breakfast.’ It’s an indie-folk slow builder; the gentle acoustic guitar bursts into a flurry of power chords and some strings are thrown in for good measure. Vocal wise Fink is on top form.
The b-sides are ‘Blueberry Pancakes’ (a rocked up, rugged tale of boy meets, sleeps with, has a long term relationship and ruins said relationship with waitress) and rather bizarrely a cover of Kraftwerk’s ‘The Model’.
