Sisters Charley and Hattie Webb come from a musical family. Their dad was a session drummer for the likes of Peter Skellern and The Dave
Travis Band, so it's almost inevitable that they'd too turn their hand to
music. Well, here it is, there debut offering Daylight Crossing.
They may hail from Kent but there's nothing on here
that suggests that whatsoever. In fact the album was recorded in the home of
country music: Nashville, US of A, and it sounds very much like it was. So expect lots of mournful
lyrical waxing and twangy guitars. Anthems such as Still The Only One are in
abundance and are an invitation for scorned women everyone to drunkenly sing
along. There's a floaty, dreamy, quality
to their sound, thanks to the vocal harmonies and delicate synths, that makes this perfect for listening to on
the car ride in the country to nowhere in particular, but whether you're convinced by them is another
thing.
