Ex-journos turned pop musicians follow up 2002 ‘s Finisterre with Tales from Turnpike House, a concept album following the adventures of an array of characters who live at Turnpike house. You go through their whole day starting with Sun in my morning and finishing with Goodnight.
The mood of this album is definitely perfect for the summer. Easy and uplifting it’s a nice accompaniment to a nice long walk on a sunny day. And if that’s not enough, 70s crooner David Essex makes an appearance on Relocate. The electo pop of tracks like Lightening strikes twice contrasts with the simpler ones like the single Side Streets. Tales from the Turnpike House is pleasant enough, but they’ll be competing with other perhaps worthier albums.
