The Mr Keating we all know and love makes an outstanding return with ‘Bring You Home’ his fourth solo outing. It is a smorgasbord of Ronan-ism’s: that full on husky voice, the jovial Celtic strings, to the deep acoustic numbers: its all here.
Naturally, Ronan hasn’t changed direction. Opening gem ‘Friends In Time’, an ode to an anonymous eternal love, is uplifting country married with cheery-acoustic pop. The first single to be taken from the album is here, ‘All Over Again’ with it’s smooth folk feel, and memorable chorus. ‘So Far Away’ is an exploration in questioning one’s roots and destiny, Ronan is in whimsical mode, as he croons “Where is home? It is common knowledge that Mr Keating is an Irish gent, so the African chanting on this track is capable of inducing mass bewilderment, or maybe he’s in possession of a big Identity Crisis.. ssshhh. The cover of ‘Bring You Home’ features Ronan sailing alone, whilst deep in thought, probably considering the planned crunk beat for album number five. Notably the boat needs a bit of a sanding and a lick of paint. Mr Keating is no stranger to success. Rather crazily, the 29 year-old young whippersnapper has sold 19 million albums across the globe. Yes 19 million. 19 million albums. That is following his brief stint in one of the most popular boy bands of the 90s. Obviously the purchaser’s of these 19 million albums have forgiven Mr Keating for launching West Life. For the moment though, ‘Bring You Home’ with it’s melodic and folky feel will definitely keep all of Ronan’s fans happy. And, essentially, hand-in-hand with that fact, is the thought that this could delay the unplanned Boyzone reunion. Rating: 3/5Record Label: PolydorMore Info: www.ronankeating.comWords By: Sarah Bates
