17 year old from the sunny shores of Barbados has had people tearing up and down the dancefloors with her debut single Pon De Replay. If that happened to tickle your fancy, then you’ll be pleased to know that she has an album out. It’s called Music Of The Sun by the way.
As you can imagine for someone who hails from her part of the world there are plenty of reggae, dancehall inspired tracks. If you’re feeling a bit gloomy because the summer is about to end, then this may just be the thing to bring the sunshine back into your life. The album title says it all really. Highlights probably include her reggae version of You Don’t Love Me (No No No) and the frantic and infectious That La, La, La. The Last Time is a gorgeous ballad, if a little sickly at times. Willing To Wait is probably the weakest track and not the most inspired. The electronic Let Me is another cool track that is something between Beyonce and Kylie. is definitely a vocalist and while she can certainly belt out the ballads but it’s on the funky up temp tunes where she makes her mark.
