There is something quite remarkable about Paolo Nutini’s voice; it incorporates a mesmerising Bluesman timbre that is rarely found on this side of the Atlantic.
Combining these soulful vocals with Rock-Pop instrumentation makes ‘Jenny Don’t Be Hasty’ instantly likable. The track tells the story of an older woman who Nutini met in a London bar; he lies about his age in order to engage her concentration, and not surprisingly she believes him (women are so gullible).
The lyrics are uncomplicated, the chorus is powerful and an entertaining story unfolds.
Nutini is captivating and his voice is what sets him apart from other artists pursuing this genre.
In musical terms ‘Jenny Don’t Be Hasty’ is fairly simplistic, but baring in mind Nutini is only 19 one can only sit and anticipate what this extraordinary young talent might do next.
