Lene Marlin was only 17 years old when her debut album Playing My Game sold 1.8 million copies around the world and going platinum in the process. She’s taken her time but she’s back with her latest album Lost In A Moment.
Throughout history, men and indeed women have had their hearts broken. Many have even chosen to write about them. Presumably Shakespeare had a massive breakdown when he conjured up Romeo and Juliet, the saddest and most depressing love story ever. Lene, in the manner of Shakespeare channels her love’s lost energy into her latest record, pouring and sobbing her heart out. On Leave My Mind for example she despairs, lamenting ‘If I had a choice I’d make you leave my mind’. First off this is a pleasant record to listen to. From the catchy pop of What if to the haunting It’s True. The problem, if it can be considered that, is that there’s little imagination or originality and not enough edginess to make Lost In A Moment an interesting record pleasant though it is.
