The Klaxons are
working on something very new and very exciting. They have an
unparalleled intensity and the rough round the edges way they record
makes their brand of savage rave-like rock sound like it was in fact
recorded inside the clubs in which it is so suitably written for.
‘Magick’ surges
in with a guitar sound not unlike a siren combined with some echoed
haunting backing vocals that permeate the entire track. Then the sort
of rattling drum beat kicks in that’ll get even the houses of
parliament jumping. It sort of moves in waves of noise from there, with
the serene and infectious chorus breaking into howling guitars and
massive drum pieces combined with strained vocals, until finally it
just burns out. It’s a bit like ‘The Rapture’ after a lot of coffee, or
maybe something stronger. They have a genuine ability to combine some
superb guitar sounds with clever electronic loops and wicked club drum
beats in a way that many have tried but few before have ever
succeeded. Because of this it fills a huge gap in our musical need and
you can be sure they’ll go very far as a result.
