Just Jack is sometimes lazily categorised as a hip hop artist but that’s not taking into consideration all the other influences such as pop, funk and dance. And tonight, the Londoner definitely doesn’t give us the standard hip hop performance –there’s a live band and everything!
It’s a tiny club he’s playing in, and it’s a cold November evening, but everyone there seems to succumb to his charms –eventually. The crowd, as if they feared for their lives, had to be coaxed into moving to the front, but once they did the atmosphere loosened up and things really got going. The set list consisted many of tracks from his forth coming album, Overtones such as Writer’s Block, Disco Friends and the stomper Starz In Their Eyes as well as classic track Snowflakes. He’s been here before and released an album on an indie label, but with a major deal this time around, it looks like Just Jack could be here to stay.
