Music Reviews Artist: Gwen Stefani feat AkonTitle: The Sweet EscapeLabel: Interscope Records
The "Sweet Escape" is the current release from Gwen's Stefani's album of the same title.
The Previous single "Wind It Up" introduced us to the fact that this album was going be very offbeat and eclectic sounding.
On this single she works with chart topper Akon to produce a track that can be barely be called a basic pop song. The beat is influenced by the 60's pop sound with includes infused guitars and some brass shots.
As I listen to this I feel like she isn't putting effort or emotion into her vocals which shines through on the track. Therefore nothing really grabs at me to continue to listen to it or every try and understand what the track is about.
For an artist who brought us such a great album, "L.A.M.B - Love Angel Music Baby" with brillant pop singles like "Hollaback Girl", "Rich Girl" and "What you waiting for?", I feel that this single is unsubstantial in comparison to them. Hopefully the other singles on this album have more zeal. At the end of listening to this track all I can remember is the gimmicky 'whoo hoos', and i feel that says a lot about it.
