Does anyone here remember “Popstars: The Rivals”? Geri had an opinion people cared about. Pete Waterman was still a respected figure in the music industry and people hadn’t really heard of that Simon bloke with the tight, black trousers. A boy band was chosen and applauded as the next big thing in the music industry. ‘’ were the also-rans who were expected to have one single and then fade away into obscurity. For once, the music industry and the public made the right decision and the girls won the day. There actually was a market for a strong, sophisticated girl group in pop music and ‘’ continue to do the country proud with their latest release. ‘Chemistry’ is pure pop genius without the annoying, scruffy-haired antics the McFly boys offer. The Christmas single ‘See The Day’ is protracted, irritating and dips constantly into mad pauses that nobody on Earth has the power to engineer. Other than that, this album is- surprisingly- superb. This is dancing in the aisles and swaying your hips on the beaches stuff. The girls have a powerful vocal range that you don’t get to see on their TV performances and there is, of course, the added appeal of that fact that each one of them is stunning. I wish they wouldn’t disappear when they turned sideways and could be allowed to look and live like ordinary women but you can’t have everything.
