Daddy Yankee, or Raymond Ayala as he’s also known as, was supposed to be a Major League Baseball player. That was changed one summer night when he was shot. Instead he’ll have to contend with having 5 albums that have gone platinum in Latin America, and the release of Gasolina from the new Barrio Fino album.
The word to describe Gasolina apparently is ‘reaggaeton’, which means that the song is a fusion of reggae, Latin rhythms and hip hop. Not a bad track to groove to should the mood take you, but the female/male interplay is a little irritating and quite frankly this bears too much of a resemblance to Macarena that Spanish speaking novelty hit of yesteryear.
