R’n’B popster is back with another instalment of chunky beats and slick crooning that reeks of cheese but undoubtedly will satisfy the demands of his increasingly pre-pubescent fanbase. As ever, the lyrics are delivered in Craig’s trademark whine and combined with a mid-tempo bassline and a disco-tinged flava (sic – sorry, couldn’t resist). The result is a reasonable stab at a pop tune, but no less bland than most of his previously released records. Following over a year away, I have to say that not a lot has changed and I’d have liked a stronger record to mark his return. Most irritating is his insistence on a kind of musical intertextuality; ‘slow jams’ and ‘the after-party’ are thrown as if Craig plays with the big boys of the scene when really this is merely puerile pop music.
