Two years ago, Ciara rocketed up the Billboard charts with her debut single, ''Goodies,'' a collaboration with crunk kingpin, Lil Jon. On The Evolution, the pair reunite for two songs, including the electrifying album opener ''That's Right,'' which combines Ciara’s sexy mellow voice with Jon’s in your face type rapping. Currently hitting off the album and onto the airwaves is the hit single ‘like a boy’ where we see Ciara compare a series or dilemmas to which she contrasts the consequences to those of a man and a woman. The album itself is very powerful and delivers a potent message that ‘women are as equally strong as men’.
There is no guessing to why this album is called ‘The Evolution’. You can tell quite easily how Ciara has evolved from her ‘Goodies’ days to date. She is more experienced, real and addresses the problems most, us youngsters encounter today. The dance songs are rugged and terrific, but eventually the tempos slow and the album drags. Still make a good b’day present though!
The Evolution is released 9th April 2007.
