Since 2000 has been making a name for himself, moving slowly away from the shadows of folk legend parents, Linda and Richard Thompson. Separate Ways features both mum and dad as well as best mates Martha and Rufus Wainwright. If this isn’t an interesting bun of collaborations, what is?
‘Depression looms/I’m such a miserable fool’ sings Teddy on I Should Get Up. Not a cheery album it would seem, and there’s more of the same on I Wish It Was Over (‘If I could be stronger and not weak’). Thankfully it’s not all doom and gloom as Everybody Move It shows there’s more to Teddy than that.
