It is arguable whether or not a fourth single need be released from the already multi platinum selling album Demon Days, and on first listening ‘Kids with Guns’ isn’t’ an obvious single choice either. What this single does do though is demonstrate further just how versatile and experimental this production team is. ‘Kids with Guns’ features additional vocals by Neneh Cherry and bumps along with a rather minimalist less is more attitude. It really is a hypnotic head bopper but in a more relaxed motion than the likes of ‘Feel Good Inc’. ‘El Manana’ is a fusion of floaty keys and shuffly almost UK Garage style beats, weaving in and out of this sound-scape are the melancholy vocals of Damon I presume. ‘El Manana’ is an enthralling track which promotes reflection despite your mood. By the end of this single release you actually realise that yes it was necessary to release a fourth single if not only to prove that the Gorillaz are one of few acts that have enough decent material to do so.

The coolest band ever to be put to animation are back with double A side. Gorillaz release Kids With Guns and El Manana both of which can be found on the hugely successful Demon Days album.
Kids With Guns is Damon Albarn being concern with the state of the world in the future for the kiddies. (‘Kids with guns taking over/ But it won't be long/They're mesmerized’) set to dark, sobering beats. El Manana is all big strings and which reach a crescendo finale.
