This year would have been Bob Marley 60th birthday. To mark the occasion Island Records, the label that brought Marley’s music to these shores, are releasing Africa Unite: a special singles collection featuring of his greatest hits, and in addition will be releasing six classic singles, the latest one being Sun Is Shining.
Elvis dominated the charts earlier this year when many of his hits were re-released. Whether this strategy was successful in introducing the king’s music to a new generation is open for debate, but presumably this is the intention with the Bob Marley singles. There’s no doubting his influence and the fact that his music is still loved by many.
