Former Nigerian president Nnamdi Azikiwe once claimed, “originality is the true essence of scholarship”. While we can safely assume that Azikiwe (or “Zik”) knew relatively little about Crunk, his words have clearly had an effect on Atlanta's Ying Yang Twins, who have to decided to push the creative envelope a little further and make yet another song about strippers.
So, lyrically speaking, this is not a massively daring effort from the Twins, but the beat isn't at all bad; heavy metal guitar snippets combine nicely with the trademark Crunk hand-clap snares to create a very catchy sound indeed. They've even managed to tear ex-Fugee Wyclef Jean away from Brian Harvey long enough to do a bit of co-production and even provide some wobbly vocals for the chorus. 'Dangerous' may not be particularly original but it's a decent pop record and, to semi-bastardize Mr. Azikiwe, Pop Music has never been considered “the true essence of scholarship” either.
