After the success of “United States of Atlanta (U.S.A)”, the Ying Yang Twins return with a new album with their long time producer Michael “Mr Collipark” Crooms. The last record was a runaway hit and their second consecutive album to go platinum so ‘Chemically Imbalanced’ has a lot to live up to.
If you’re looking for thoughtful lyrics about the society we live in today you might wanna give this CD a miss. Not since a rather painful childhood infection have my ears been subjected to such torture. Everyone knows that this duo provides party music but not even the beats can save this banal excuse for hip-hop. Once you get past the awful verses – if that’s possible – the music is samey and unoriginal and I don’t know what Wyclef was thinking when he added his vocals to “Dangerous”; it’s like a cat being strangled.
This is a perfect example of why hip-hop doesn’t sell like it used to and you shouldn’t spend money on what is not only a waste of materials but a waste of time.
