Nothing can happen without any action. Heed these words. Though, if your mother happens to be around, turn the CD off before the rappers tell you to: “get busy mother f******. It is refreshing to hear positive messages in rap songs- especially after listening to so many versions of “I look great because I have some guns, some money and my own game on the XBOX 360” songs from 50 Cent. The poetry of the street is in safe hands with these wandering minstrels. The lyrics are cutting and cutting edge. They speak of current events, current attitudes and yet…they keep tight hold on a sense of timelessness. It’s easy to let this music run in the background while you “chill” but I recommend listening to every word because the performers on this record really do have something important to say.
Mind you, I doubt they’d say no to their own XBOX 360 game. There’s a sexual energy that these performers can turn on and off at will and they are truly talented at weaving different emotional themes into their songs. No one song is the same and no one song will leave you feeling the same as the response you gave its predecessor. Part of me doesn’t want to give out another 5 out of 5. But this record has left me with little choice.
