Still on a roll from his chart-topping producing duties for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, Mr. Timothy Mosley gives us a showcase of sorts in his latest offering. The ever-prolific beat junkie really exercises his deepest musical desires from the off with the Nina Simone sampled intro ‘Oh Timbaland’ to the exotic bounce found on ‘Bombay’ and his brief foray into indie with rockers Fallout Boy on ‘One and Only’. The fact that Timbaland doesn’t posses the lyrical prowess of the likes of Nas or Jay-Z it fails to disturb the flow of the album and he keeps it simple and clear like his verse on lead-single ‘Give It To Me’ which is aimed at fellow producer Scott Storch, “I’m a real producer and you just a piano man/Your songs don’t touch the charts, I heard ‘em, I’m not a fan”.
Beefed up with a long list of guest spots ranging from Justin Timberlake (no suprises there!), The Hives, Elton John (on piano duty), 50 Cent and Dr. Dre this album has star quality from start to finish and it there are a host of possibilities for forthcoming singles. Not content with A-List musicians he has also enlists new talent in the shape of Keri Hilson to aid him on funked-up electro gems ‘Way I Are’ and ‘Miscommunication’ and her silky vocals make for some energetic listening. What makes this album a definite must for all music lovers is its diverse content mixed with quality execution which we now expect as standard from Timbaland. With up-coming projects with Bobby Valentino, Bjork and 50 Cent it looks like it’s going to be a Timbaland soaked summer, bring on the sun!
