Music Reviews Artist: Plan BTitle: No GoodLabel: 679 Recordings
In June 2006, the album 'Who Needs Actions When You Got Words' was released by by Plan B, it caused talk amongst MPs, moral censors and the media. Whether the talk was positive or negative it brought him to our attention and now he is releasing the current single by the name of 'No Good'.
The single uses the chorus of The Prodigy 'No Good (Start The Dance)' and as a prodigy fan I can happily say it does it justice. This track simply introduces us to who plan b aka Ben Drew is. In an Age when I feel Hip Hop has sold out to the money with new rappers coming to the scene with catchy hooks and weak lyrics, plan b delivers us back the essence.
The essence is as a rapper your words have to be your weapon, they should create scenarios and images so vivid that
the listener should be able to picture it and share in the experience that you have been in and this is what he achieves.
Plan B's style and delivery is on point and lyrically he doesn't waver on what he is trying to portray, which may not please everyone but to me he is keeping it real.
Out of the three remixes i prefer the Chase & Status and Beni G Remix, here the remix totally takes you away from the original sound of the single but it also implements the prodigy sound into it.Not to take anything away from the other remixes this one just stands out.
