The sun in shining, birds are singing, and stripping too. Summer is on its way; solar produced serotonin and vitamin D are just weeks from reach, yet some people still feel the future is to moan.
MC Wrec is one such subject, his debut track seeing 170 seconds worth of dislikes.
The Great British moan will also be Wrec's first download only single, following an influx of artists who see the internet as a saviour amid wallowing material sales that can see an artist hitting the top spot without even putting out a shiny little number.
Wrec, AKA Jon Bailey has built his career over the last decade, performing with the likes of Rodney P, DJ A-Trak, The Streets and Afrika Bambaataa, as well as becoming the resident MC at numerous labels and clubs across the south, including his own project, Mums The Word Music.
The London Elektricity frontman is known most for his grafting, so it's of no surprise he has a few things to get off his chest, expressing contempt for items such as internet forums, to haters, from establishment to anarchy.
Since leaking the track via his MySpace page, 22'000 listens have been accumulated, and interest has been growing ever since, which isn't hard to believe after listening through.
Although it takes a few listens to work out just how much antagonism is going through this relatively young 27 year old Brighton based rappers head, the catchy downbeat DnB backing track and smooth lyrics make this an easy task. It does however make for a rather mournful experience, hardly the thing you'd be wishing for come the UV protection warnings and hayfever alerts.
It's easy to imagine yourself in Wrec's place, anyway who admires Crazy Frog, Mel & Sue or Kilroy-Silk shouldn't really be alive anyway. And if you’re one of the few people with enough balls/stupidity to go swimming in Speedos, please close your browser now.
Wrec comes with the goods, hardly surprisingly after following his grouping history, but solo is a whole new ball game.
The Great British Moan is out May 7th, 2007, on Mums The Word, available to buy online from iTunes.
