Take a sprinkling of the Wu, add in a little Guru and Premier, then send them hurtling through the Cumbrian countryside on a ‘trusty’ Virgin Pendolino. Rising from the smoking debris would be a phoenix in the shape of Triple Darkness, the UKs answer to the 36 chambers collective.
Comprising of Cyrus Malachi, Nasheron and M9ine, Triple Darkness are set for big things, and the debut tracks from M9ine sets a great precedent for which they would do well to benchmark.
Silent Weapons is a hard hitting example of social commentary at its very finest, with the intricate wordplay and militant lyrics doing the Beat Butcha track the credit it deserves.
Also on this debut release is the Chemo keyed Heresey, featuring Kyza Smirnoff coming as raw as he wants to be, backed up by catchy turntablism infused chorus, and his Terra Firma partner Skriblah taking the reigns on Cold, a grimey, conscientious number painting a picture of urban life and living.
This quartet is quite simply four tracks of straight fire, depicting a still relatively young, but well educated and eloquent mind. Just one listen is all that is needed to visualise exactly what is being said, and to take on board the intricacy of growing up.
M9ine, and Triple Darkness, are teeing up to be the heaviest newcomers in 2007, and with the right backing, they are well on their way to proving the title.
Silent Weapons is available now from Suspect Packages, with the mixtape, High Fidelity, in stores from early April.
