Lyrics Born excels at smooth funky hip hop, pumping out innovative beats and a stylised lyrical flow. For the most part that's what you get on 'Everywhere at Once', though there are a few false starts; watch out for the Euro-pop backing to 'I Can't Decide' (eventually eclipsed by some furious rapping), and the dubious reggaeton sound of 'Top Shelf'.
As you'd expect from Lyrics Born 'Everywhere at Once' is a mixed bag; funk, deep funk, electro, rock and R&B are all represented and his crooner-esque vocals adapt easily to each sound. 'Hott 2 Deff' sees him battle Charli 2na for the most distinctive crown, 2na wins, while on 'Difference' he sounds more like Snoop. On 'The World is Calling' we get a perfectly timed lyrical workout, and on 'Is it the Skin I'm In?' its soulful R&B smoothness.
'Hott 2 Deff' and 'I Like It' stand out as the obvious singles while 'Rules Were Meant to be Broken' and stands out as being an odd choice; Lyrics copes easily with punky elctro-pop/rock style but it jars with the the rest of the album.
Its not on for the die hard hip-hop heads but it is creative party hip hop and his first release on Anti-. Its out April 2nd.
