On reading the resume, Lushlife’s grounding is in classical piano and jazz drums more than anything else. Hip Hop was his first love though, so after college finished he started laying down some rhymes over his own beats. The result is his Debut Album ‘Order Of Operations’ spawning this single.
‘No Foundation’ is adequate, but that really is it. It revolves around a nicely cut up backing, permeated by an old skull snaps break. The rhyming is to the point and delivered with some degree of passion. On the whole, it just doesn’t really go anywhere. Shame as the message underneath (about the roots of Hip-Hop) is a positive one.
The ‘Yam Who’ remix, which accompanies, has a more live feel and does sound like its on the move but generally ‘No Foundation’ is lacking the zing of a track with a less positive message.
