Ah, so that’s where the Chipmunks from Akon’s debut single got to. Given that I grew up with a Super Nintendo entertainment system in the corner of the room, Kano has always been, to be anyway, a character in Mortal Kombat 2. To be fair, Kano is also one of the most talented young rappers out there and, let’s face it, if someone can put a reference to “Eastenders” into a rap and make it sound good, he must be talented. This single should be played loud and I can already see the cars cruising London with this blaring from the stereo. The urban vibe is more welcoming than harsh and Kano is a lot more open than other rappers. When he talks about struggle and strife, you believe him. Kano is close to being a modern day prophet and he is also an inspiration to young people. Life may get hard but at least you can set your troubles to music and communicate through song.
The musical arrangement is haunting and the young man’s voice is beautiful and strong. Kano’s voice opens the door and let’s you into his world. Your world. Listen and learn.
