Music Reviews Artist: Jibbs feat Melody ThorntonTitle: Let's Wait a WhileLabel: Greffen/Universal
On first listen, you’d be forgiven for thinking this sounds like Nelly, because it does. Near enough the same flow, and a rumbling rap and sing combo, as favoured by fellow St. Louie native Nelly, this sounds familiar. Remember Nelly and Kelly Rowland’s ‘Dilemma’? Jibbs teams up with Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, taking a crack at some loved up hip hop. A far cry from his last hit ‘Chain Hang Low’, ‘Go Too Far’ also samples Janet Jackson’s ‘Lets Wait a While’. I’m sure not if this song will do anything else but show people other members of the Pussycat Dolls do exist.
Production comes via Da Beatstaz, but could easily be mistaken for Swizz Beatz in some places, that’s the point, a lot of this sounds like something we’ve heard before. A fair shot at some ‘urban’ hip hop.
