Jason’s fame grew out of the ‘Burgeoning coffee-shop scene of San Diego’ apparently.. it’s not a scene I know a great deal about. His first album, 2003’s ‘Waiting for my rocket to come’ sold over a million world wide. Something I do know is a Spicegirl – esque skippy baseline and a Justin Timberlake voice combo that I can’t say many decent things about.
Jason seems to want to define himself as being a bit of a rapper and rhymer, but with lines such as:
‘I may be skinny at times, but I’m phat for the rhymes’
It’s not going to get Snoop Dogg too worried now is it. Unfortunately, it may be exactly the sort of combination that could sell to our impressionable fourteen year olds who are looking for something a tiny bit different. His chorus could also be easily learned for singing on school buses from Sunderland to Southampton. Exposure isn’t going to be a problem either with a tour supporting the irrepressible James Blunt. It’s just whether he gets on the radio play lists now… He thankfully says he doesn’t ‘care what people think about him’, which should really stand him in good stead.
