If you’ve heard of Jaheim before, you’ll remember him from Ghetto Love (2001) and Still Ghetto (2002). If you haven’t heard of him, think slightly cheesy “baby-making” slow jams and oversize sunglasses worn with a crisp white suit and you’re halfway to a reasonable approximation of the fella himself.
Everytime I Think About Her isn’t anything special. It fulfils its role in an already overcrowded market, granted. But really, do we need another American billing himself as the new Luther Vandross (I mean come on, it’s just offensive) and warbling along to a mid-tempo ballad?
Vocally, Jaheim has something, but lyrically, it’s weak. Moreover, the beats could be over a decade old – a bit of Kanye West or NERD is needed to bring this track into a more contemporary sphere. Duller than the dullest of dishwater.
