What is the chart these days without an infectious slice of B.E.P magic? Well fear not, as Fergie and the boys are back and this time – lo and behold – there using another sample. However, the dick dale ‘miserlou’ sample (more commonly know as the pulp fiction theme tune), does make this track instantly familiar and adds to the high speed energy that laces this definite club track.
Following on from the success of their album Monkey Business, Pump it is the fourth single release from that 7 million selling album and the pace has not slowed down.
Although there is a feeling of familiarity to this track, I do feel that without the sample this would be yet another drab piece of mainstream hip-hop. It fails in comparison to their smash hit and the hilarious ‘My humps’ and has very little emotion like ‘Where is the love’.
With all this said and done, no doubt it will grace the top ten for a week or two, but then wander back into pop oblivion and never to be heard again.
Rating: 2/5 – it’s cool for what it is, but it isn’t all that!
