Mr Kipling, Exceedingly Good Cakes. For the price you pay, you get a perfectly produced slab of lush, combining top notch ingredients for a tasty snack and post-dining pleasure.
Whilst Big Cakes doesn’t quite achieve such legendary status, his first single from his debut album ‘S.K.I.M.’ is an easy of the stomach summery anthem, cooked in a baking tin of positivity.
‘Holla At The Girls’ starts in a fashion not unknown to the Don’t Trigger campaigner, calling for the drop of arms and uptake of more friendly pastimes, namely those lacking a Y-chromosome.
Whilst not inundating the listener with complex wordplay and metaphorical buffoonery, Cakes brings a straight to the point banger, laying it down as simple as can be and without the sprinkles and excessive layering associated with the more gateau style tracks.
OK…enough of the baking analogies.
With a Nutty P’s backing, the rolling synths and hi-hats accompany the lyrics well, combining to give it a really firm fair weather feel, whilst allowing Big Cakes to say something that needs to be said, that people should divert their energies away from prison-bound tasks, and concentrate on their grind.
‘Holla At The Girls’ is out July 2nd, download only, through Stuff Mu51c.
