It is official, having grey hair is no longer a pejorative feature. I mean, look at the , three grey haired men who still know how to make a quality track in what is undoubtedly a testing genre such as rap-rock. Their latest tune; An open letter to New York is a straight up tribute to the aforementioned city of dreams. Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Manhattan are all given importance on this inspirational, yet raw letter.
What the have always been able to do is generate a political viewpoint over a hardcore, energetic beat that mixes nostalgic memories against a futuristic, and techno beat. An open letter to New York is from the Boy’s first studio LP in six years “To the 5 Boroughs” which conjures up techno experimentation with a natural and pure reminiscent outlook.
What this emotional tribute presents us with is the effects, events and characteristics of living in New York. “Dear New York I know a lot has changed two towers down but we’re the same”. It reflects a true image of their life and for that; the boys have to be commended!
