Music Reviews Artist: A-TolaTitle: Goal/Sound BwoyLabel: Street Dreams Entertainment
New UK hip hop flava for your ears comes in the form of A-Tola. Hailing from South London, this dude makes his mark with a double A-side. First up is the football inspired ‘Goal’, quite fittingly held together by a ‘Match of the Day’ sample and injected with a hyped tongue tying flow to boot.
Next is the infectious Sound Bwoy, using an old skool reggae sample from Faybiene Miranda’s 1977 hit ‘Prophecy’. It reels you in with its dominant, heavy reggae inspired bass line, as the lyrics smoothly chop over the beat. Rapping about his natural skill for music, Sound Bwoy commands you to nod your head, raise your hand, and draw for your lighter, not forgetting the essential skank. Two different tunes, ‘Goal’ being the more commercial sounding, both serving their purpose well.
