Boasting a newly refurbished £500,000 crystal ceiling, West London's Club Crystal is the perfect excuse not to stay at home on a Saturday night. Club Crystal is the brainchild of Year Zero and Kala-Kala events (an exciting new enterprise specialising in promotions, parties and club consultancy for the music and entertainment industry). On the night, guests were treated to an exclusive preview of designers, Louise & Rocky's new collection whilst dancing the night away to an assortment of dance and funky house beats.
Crystal has recently been nominated for 'Best New Club' at the London Braham Bar and Club Awards, although if they want to keep people coming back for more, in an increasingly crowded London club scene, they really need to up their game when it comes to customer relations. After negotiating our way past the somewhat 'difficult' doormen, we were greeted by some very welcome complimentary Alizé cocktails, while DJ Neverdogs got the dancefloor moving with an eclectic mix of music ranging from Nina Sky to Camel Rider. Rio Ferdinand and US rapper Xzibit both made appearances and took advantage of the free drinks while boogieing to the sounds of Bob Sinclair and Cece Peniston, although thankfully, the football playboy didn't actually take to the decks.
As the clock stuck midnight, the crowd were treated to the surreal site of a bevvy of camply dressed models of all shapes and sizes leaping onto the sweat soaked walls. their hypnotic, exotic dancing was the cue for the whole crowd to start strutting their funky stuff. as the party people leapt up onto the furniture, a mix of old school funk and freshly minted dance tracks blasted out and set the whole place alight. although sets by DJ's Jodie Harsh, Normski and Frog were cancelled at the last minute, it didn't seem to stop the party people having the time of their lives.
